For while we were yet weak, in due season Christ died for the ungodly. Rom. 5,6

The Word was God!

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God 2 He was in the beginning with God. John 1:1-2

This is also one of Gods many names: The Word! And here in this text it is preached unto us, that He who was born in Bethlehem Christmas eve, lived His about 30 years here on earth as a human being og died on a cross outside the walls of Jerusalem as an offender and blasphemer - the Man, Jesus from Nazareth: He is the Word!
He is no less a person than God Himself! - As we read it here: «The Word was God!»
Does not this surprise you anymore? Is this no longer your certainty for salvation? - The reason for it? - That He who did His work for you, He is the Word, He is God!
This was the big inexhaustible wonder the disciples - that they had wandered together with «the Word of Life» as a human being they could see, hear and touch. (1 John. 1:1-2).
He came down here to be our Savior. - He came to save His people from their sins. (Mat. 1:21). - He took our guilt on Him, suffered for it and died for it. Yes, had to experience to be godforsaken to the utmost in the middle of the anxiety of death. - He came to take our place! - And this human being who places Himself in this situation for our sake, well, He is the Word, the eternal Word, by whom everything was created - the eternal God!
Is it easy to believe this? No, it is incomprehensible! - But as the Scripture preaches unto you here, yet true!
It is God Himself who has put matters right for me! - And then you and I can truly find rest in it.
May it by the grace and love of God follow us all through the new year now ahead of us!
