Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation
of the world. Mat. 25:34
Noone is closer to the parents than their children. - And so it is
also the child that has the right of inheritance before all others. It
is only where there are no children, that the right of inheritance goes
to others, normally.
This text says, with that, that these was chosen to be children,
from the foundation of the world!
It is exactly that description the Word of God uses as to describe
those who have taken their refuge in Jesus: «See how great a love the
Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and
such we are... Beloved, now we are children of God.» (1 John 3:1-2).
«Now we are children of God,» says the Word here, and then the
Scripture witnesses further about it: «The Spirit Himself testifies with
our spirit that we are children of God and if children, heirs also,
heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ.» (Rom. 8:16-17).
If you in your need have taken your refuge in Him, and do not know
anything else for salvation, then you have also the privilege to be a
heir! - And the
Scripture do not preach about a heritage that shall be yours sometime in
the future - certainly you shall take possession of it, fully some day -
but you have got it for your own already, by the faith in Him who
has died for you! As we also
read: «- heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ!»
Consider what lays ahead of you! - Imagine to be heir of God and
fellow heir with Christ! That will in other words say, that you will get
part in the same as Him!
No, none of us can comprehend, the glory it implies, but we are
allowed to believe in it! - Yes, be sure of it, «for He who promised is
faithful!» (Heb. 10:23).
But it is still some time in the land of the enemy for all of us,
short or long, before we can take our heritage in possession, and
therefore the Scripture adds the admonitions about standing, not lose
courage, hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering etc. - Or
as it is further called, after the promise of being heirs of God and
fellow heirs with Christ: «- if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may
also be glorified with Him.» (Rom. 8:17).
But notice this: What we are called to stick to, is exactly what
is given us in Jesus
Christ! - The heritage.
