The way!

   He led them also by a straight way. Psalm 107:7

   One have to think of the word Jesus spoke here: «I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.» (John 8:12).
   But when the natural man shall find out what it means to follow Jesus, it thinks deeds! Well, Jesus Himself wandered around and did good, then that is to follow Him, to do the same as He did!
   Yes, the one that follows Him will also want to be like Him - that is true enough - but to follow Him is something totally different.
   These outward things, the urge in the heart to be more like Him etc., is only effects of following Him, and besides changeable and unstable as they constantly is disturbed by our own flesh.
   Jesus Himself says about it: «If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.» (John 8:31-32).
   This is what Jesus wants with each individual of us, the real freedom: «If the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed!» (John 8:36).
   He had not come to lead us into slavery, as you so often can get the impression of, by looking at the Christian activity!
   So this is how we get part in this freedom - by His Word! It is His Word which must enlighten us about His thoughts and will, and with that set us free from our own! And His thoughts and will is accordingly the perfect freedom for us!
   He has given us this freedom in His Son!
