For while we were yet weak, in due season Christ died for the ungodly. Rom. 5,6

Saving hope!

   - and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. 1 Thess. 5:8

We usually speaks about «only» a hope! Hope is something insecure. And so it is also with those hopes that are connected to the things in this world. - The heritage you hoped for, can be wasted. The person you put your trust in, can die. The future you hoped for, can suddenly be cut off by illness or death etc. - But not so with the hope the Scripture talks about. - Peter describes it as a living hope (1 Pet. 1:3), and by that he shows us that the hope we have is the resurrected and eternal living savior, Jesus Christ!
Our hope is a person! Therefore Paul can write to the Romans: «For in hope we have been saved.» (Rom. 8:24).
If it was not so, it would have been a poor helmet to protection against the weapons of the enemies, but now the apostle can call it exactly a helmet, because he knows Gods secret, the salvation in Jesus Christ alone!
You can let this helmet - the hope for salvation - take all the blows from the enemy, with confidence! Because this, your hope - as sure as it is the same hope as the Scripture presents unto us, and we speaks about here - it is Him whom the Scripture testifies like this about: «Behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome.» (Rev. 5:5).
And what does it testifies about you who overcomes?: «They overcame him (the Devil) because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony.» (Rev. 12:11). That is, by the hope they had! Which is the blood of the Lamb!
This blood counts also today before the throne of God! - Take your refuge to it! - It is the helmet that can bear all the attacks of the enemy!
