For while we were yet weak, in due season Christ died for the ungodly. Rom. 5,6

Life's goal and purpose

I have exalted one chosen from the people. Ps. 89:19

All mans life has a goal and a purpose.
This is also a widespread opinion among the people of the world. Then the thought is that «something» stands behind - something one is not quite sure what is - and determines ones fate. But the Scripture points out to us, that it is only in relationship with God a human being has found its goal, and its purpose! Everything else is to miss on the goal! - One lived in vain, because one did not find god, ones origin. - One did not find home!
Then it is of little consequence how well this life went on according to a human scale, as Jesus shows us by the rich man who «habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendor every day.» (Luke 16:19).
People will say that one like him has succeeded, and will envy him - but listen to what Jesus says further on: «- the rich man also died and was buried. "In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus (the poor but faithful) in his bosom.» (v.22-23).
Will you now say that he had succeeded in life?
Now everything is lost, he had only appropriated what was going under and do not last, and with that there were nothing that could satisfy his soul - it was torment! And in addition he had to see the salvation that by the grace of God also had been available for him, far away, on the other side of the unbridgeable chasm!
There he also saw Lazarus, whom he had disdained so intensely because of his «weakness» and inability to «stand on his own feet,» but needed to have the Lord with him - something that in his eyes did not exactly brought luck. To him Lazarus was precisely a proof on this!
But look at them now! - Yes, really do! - Because that is what Jesus wants with this story - and ask the Lord today, that you must reach the goal for your life that He has set for it!
